DID YOU KNOW? 90% of all start-ups fail! Yes, shocking right? But that is what the business' post-mortems done by CB Insights in 2019 revealed: 90% of all start-ups do not succeed. And guess what? Poor marketing is the reason for 14% of all start-up failures, making it the 8th leading cause of start-up failures.
Marketing is the act of promoting, advertising and selling products or services to the public. Start-ups really need to run effective marketing campaigns so that they build their brand, get people to notice them since they are new, and gain advantage over the already stable competitors. When planning an effective marketing campaigns, you need to take note of the following:
What are goals of the campaign?- Do you want people to know more about your products? Then create ads with more images of your best products. Do you want people to buy your products? Then create ads with your products with their prices, offers and discounts. Goals dictate how you will set up and run your advertisements.
Who are you targeting?- You do not want to advertise barbie dolls to boys or older women right? Targeting also matters, you have to define the group of people who are likely to buy your products or services then advertise to them.
What is your budget?- Marketing campaigns start from $1 up to whichever amount you want to spend for this. You have to set out your budget, this way you can plan when, how and where to advertise your business. For example, you can't plan to advertise a billion people with a $1!
